...or 'how my desk now resembles a bayou'
A weekly update
School is winding down, slowly but surely, and projects are still persisting. Why? Because the trolls of education like to see us students contort in academic agony, THAT'S why!
I've got inking to do, a paper to write, perspective work to finish up, two projects to get cracking on, a picture of Venus de Milo to mess around with, a bug with surf boards to draw and a clay hand to complete. On top of the school work, there're a couple of commissions I have to do relatively soon and my comic to work on.
And then I have to go shopping for gifts, organize a Christmas party, start planning my foray back to the UK and look at cheaper ways to get from Britain to France.
With all that's going on, I've really neglected my whole 'cleanliness is next to awesomeness' policy; my desk looks like it's been kidnapped by rabid squirrels, tossed into a wood chipper, lit on fire, made into paper, ripped up, scattered to the four winds only to be sucked up by a tornado, float down into a bomb defusing area, napalmed and eaten by a two year old with a drooling problem. That being said, my tablet and screen are still visible so it's bearable for now. What's irking me is that everything has to be done and handed in before December hits and that doesn't leave enough time for the things I really give a hoot about. Suppose it's just one of those things you've gotta deal with when it comes to learning and being dedicated, but geez, even I know the difference between dedicated and the academic cat-o'-nine-tails!
Once that's over and done with, things will start picking up. For those of you following my comic, I may be a little late on updating until this mess is sorted out (not my desk, though that'd help things along).
As for traveling, I was thinking about going back to England in the summer if I can afford the plane ticket. There's just so much there that I haven't seen yet, but this time I'm going as a note taker and 20th century historian (as opposed to the 18th century historian I tend to be). The plan is to do research on The Blitz, key events and places in Britain during WWII and visit the Cabinet War Rooms. While I'm over there, I'm going to go out to Nottinghamshire - to Ollerton Cemetery; I think my uncle deserves a visit.
Here's hoping I have the funds because after that, I want to set aside some time to go across the channel to France. If I can, I want to go visit the Normandy beaches... but more than that, I want to head out to Vichy itself to take reference photographs and learn as much as I can. Chances are I might not be able to, but it never hurt to hope!
Between here and there, however, there are classes, projects and trolls to deal with.
Well, you know what they say about starting a journey of a thousand miles... all it takes one step.
And a whole lot of bitching.
